“He who works with his hands
and his head and his heart is an artist.”
- St. Francis of Assisi
Throughout my childhood in southern New England, I found myself inately captured by the facinating world of art. From my pre-adolescent wonder of children’s book illustrations, to the master works of great painters in art history and modern realism, I was completely inspired by these artworks and artists. I began to draw and paint at an early age. At age two, I rendered Humpty Dumpty in crayon on a white cupboard. I now use oil paint and watercolor.
I always find myself exploring new ways of creative expression, new mediums to paint on, new techniques to use. Today we live in a technologically advanced society. Unavoidable exposure to unlimited varieties of the visual image is what influence's my constantly evolving style of artwork.
What I visually love is the celebration of rich, bold, explorations of pigment & color, coupled with strong composition and balance.
However, I always return to the narrative of the artwork. The story. It is the story to be conveyed through art that inspires me to paint. I love the detail and the nuance of the descriptive line. The story, as it unfolds, as I begin each new painting, is my passion.
It is my wish that you, the viewer, will be personally moved by listening to each story with your eyes. It is my hope that you will enjoy the viewing experience with as much pleasure as I have had in the telling of each story with the brush stroke.
When viewing my artwork, you will find there is no great mystery to uncover. I simply love paint and painting. It is simply who I am.
